ICBA – International Council of Business Analysis has a long and storied history in the world of finance. We have been pioneers in the industry for many years and are known for taking innovative steps. We are very proud of our achievements and all the people who led us here.

1985
The Consortium was formed
“The Consortium” was formed among several professional organizations to create a global business analysis certification process for professionals and to address the need for standardized curriculum for the burgeoning profession. A series of strategy and planning meetings were held at Idaho State University and in Salt Lake City starting in November.

1990
ICBA was established
ICBA was established as a nonprofit corporation, and we named our first president. In addition, our founders completed the first Business Analysis Common Body of Knowledge (BACBK) prototype.

2001
first recognition
By this time we were a well known name within the industry. We had been prominent members of the industry for more than 16 years and worked for some of the biggest clients in the industry; we weren’t dismissed by anyone because we could not be dismissed by anyone.
